Downsizing
For many people there comes a time when the family nest is empty, and they find themselves living in a house that is too big. Downsizing is a common option at this stage of life which can be a difficult decision to make. Moving from a bigger house to a smaller one can be tricky. Afterall, we tend to spend our lives upsizing, so knowing where to start can feel overwhelming.
I can help you declutter and decide what you really need to take with you and what can find a new home. I can help you to keep track of information relevant to the moving process, organise your items for moving and unpack and organise your items in your new home.
This process can trigger anxiety and fear about what the future holds. I approach each client with care and compassion and really listen to what their needs are. I take great care identifying sentimental items and making sure that they don’t get lost along the way.
Moving into Care
Whether is it for yourself or for a family member, moving to a care home will always be a difficult transition. Unlike moving home, the person moving often can’t take nearly as many of their belongings as they would like to. This can leave family members with the task of storing or moving items on to new homes. Many find this stressful or simply don’t have the time for this.
The decision to make this move may be made without much notice and so often items are simply boxed up and left unorganised for many years. Orka Living can help you and or your loved ones prepare for this move. I will support you in deciding what items will need to go with you and what items may need to be passed on or removed.
Above all, I aim to help make this transition as smooth as possible for the whole family. During this process, you may find that certain items evoke special stories and memories that should live on forever more. I have many options available to help you preserve these stories and keep them in a way that they can be cherished by generations to come.
